I think that portrait photography should be about capturing you and your family naturally in surroundings that you feel relaxed and at ease in. I never manufacture uncomfortable situations, instead preferring to let you and your family interact with each other in a way that allows you to forget about me and have fun with the people who mean the most to you.
Think of this as an experience. Me taking photos of you and your family is just one element of it but as well and beautifully natural and unhurried photos, I will also make sure we get to know each other and have some fun while we are together.
In this gallery, you will see lots of people of all ages from newborn babies to teenagers and adults. How and where we decide to take your photos is absolutely up to you, whether it be at your home with my portable studio, or outside, perhaps in nearby fields, local woods or a favourite walk, but I am here to help with where would work best, what to wear, and what time of the day or year would produce the best results.
I like to think that I have a certain way with people of all ages, whether it’s individuals or families, and I will put any worries or concerns you may have to one side. My goal with each session that I am lucky enough to do is to create a true and real collection of images that you will look back on for the rest of your life and proudly show your friends and family.
My own view is that people grow up from being helpless babies to adults in the blink of an eye and to capture just a fraction of someone’s character and personality as it changes during this journey is something that you will never recreate once it has gone, so for me, photos of loved ones are quite simply priceless. This quote from French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson puts it very well;
“Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.”
